According to a cognitive neuroscientist of U.S., age related brain decline can be reversed with the help of regular exercise.
Also Professor of the Beckman Institute at the University of Illinois, Prof. Art Kramer said that there is evidence that shows the advantages of aerobics on the functions of brain like maintaining your goals, memory and switching ability.
Prof. Kramer also explained that with the age the white and gray matter present in our brain start deteriorating in some areas of the brain which result in cognitive decline. He researched a lot and found that regular exercise that makes us breathless enhances the sharpness of the brain and our thoughts. Also it improves the functioning of our brain.
Prof. Kramer also wrote in the British Journal of Sports Medicine that, the benefits of aerobics exercise have been noted in the patients suffering with Alzheimer’s also in those who do not show signs of progressive brain diseases.
Studies also show that adults performing aerobics for more than six months upturns the decline related to the age and also their brain maintain the plasticity which is the ability to develop. Also it was found that the adults who were physically fit did not show the deterioration in the gray matter present in the brain.
According to Prof. Kramer active lifestyle along with the moderate amount of aerobics can improve the functioning of the brain and the cognitive function of the brain in older people.
