Diet pills are a wonderful tool. When used correctly, they can give your diet and exercise program a boost that helps you lose more weight faster. This can be particularly helpful if you are obese and need to get the pounds off quickly to avoid the onset of disease. However, there is a dark side to weight loss supplements; diet pill abuse. Diet pill abuse occurs when a person begins either overusing the diet pills or using them beyond the intended scope. Generally, people who succumb to Diet Pill Abuse are people who are suffering from eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia.

There are many reasons why you would want to avoid diet pill abuse. The primary reason is that many diet pills have side effects. A person may not experience any negative side effects while they are taking the product as prescribed. However, as soon as they begin the diet pill abuse, their body reacts and the side effects begin negatively impacting their health. These side effects must be taken seriously. Possible consequences of diet pill abuse include liver failure, heart failure, organ damage, and brain damage. Diet Pill abuse is not worth the damage it can do to your body.

Another reason why you want to avoid diet pill abuse is that it can promote addiction. This is especially true of diet pills that contain stimulants. An addiction to diet pills occurs and escalates just like any other addiction. First you use it normally but then you start overusing it. Pretty soon, you are unable to get through the day without taking your diet pills. Even worse, you have to start ingesting more and more of them to get the same high. Diet Pill abuse can not only land you in a hospital, you can also end up in a treatment center for those battling addiction.

Diet pill addiction can also cause a disruption in your metabolism. Appetite suppressant particularly can cause your metabolism to permanently slow down if you start abusing them. This means you will be getting the opposite affect and actually start gaining weight because your body is not burning calories like it should. Diet pill abuse is a habit you just don’t want to be involved with. If you feel you are committing diet pill abuse or on the verge of doing it, seek professional help immediately.
