Does the Jenny Craig Diet Really Work?

Kirstie Alley has been in the entertainment news off and on for awhile now, because of her successes and failures on the Jenny Craig diet. She was the spokes person for the Jenny Craig diet, and there were quite a few commercials on TV showing how much weight she had lost. Kirstie Alley even appeared as a guest on “Oprah” where she talked about Jenny Craig and her goal to come back on the show in a bikini. She did well; each commercial showed her looking thinner and healthier, and it was obvious that she was happy with her progress as well.

Fast forward a few weeks, and it looked like Kirstie Alley was right back where she started. What went wrong? Is the Jenny Craig plan legitimate? You may have been asking these kinds of questions, and it is important to find answers, especially when you are trying to decide which diet program to pick. These diet plans cost money, and it would feel awful to give your hard earned money to a program for a few weeks, just to find out that it doesn’t really work!

Valerie Bertinelli also went with Jenny Craig, and also became a spokes person for the diet plan. She has lost all of her extra pounds and seems to be maintaining a healthy weight. So why didn’t it work for Kirstie Alley? Is it only a matter of time before Valerie Bertinelli gains her weight back?

The Jenny Craig diet plan claims that people on their program lose 5 times as much weight as any other diet program. When you choose the Jenny Craig program, you get your very own consultant who works with you to come up with a personalized weight loss plan . This usually consists of Jenny Craig meals, fruits and vegetables and a few of your own foods until you get to the halfway point, when you can begin incorporating more of your own foods into your diet. They also encourage a certain amount of exercise, and by the end of your weight loss journey, when you have reached your goals, they say you will be ready to leave the program because you will have good eating and exercise habits.

The Jenny Craig diet works for people who have motivation and willpower to lose the extra weight. This program will not work for those who are looking for a quick fix or a miracle cure for their overeating. Jenny Craig does have quite a few features that make it work, and this does put them at the top of the list of diet programs, but you still need to do the work!

Maybe this is the reason that it works for some and not others. Kirsty Alley has never come out and given a clear reason as to why she gained her weight back. She cannot really say that Jenny Craig doesn’t work though – she did lose the weight before it came back on! If you want to go with Jenny Craig to lose weight, I would recommend it, as long as you know that the journey to being healthier is never over; there will never be a day when you can say, “That’s it! Now I can eat whatever I want.” Remaining in good health is important though, and there are many benefits to eating healthy foods and exercising regularly.
