A recent study revealed that drinking more of alcohol decreases the size of your brain volume. This is remarkably true for women.
Even though men drink more alcohol as compared to women, the connection between the volume of brain and drinking alcohol was obtained to be much stronger in women as compared to men. This may be due to the biological aspects and the smaller size of women and greater vulnerability to the effects of consuming alcohol.
According to the release of American Medical Association, Carol Ann Paul of Wellesey along with her colleagues studied 1,839 adults in the age group of average 60 years. They were part of the Framingham Offspring Study that began in the year 1971.
The participants also underwent (MRI) magnetic resonance imaging along with health examination. These participants gave the report of the number of drinks that they consumed also their education, sex, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), age and Framingham Stroke Risk Profile.
According to the authors many participants reported consumption of low alcohol and also it was found that women consumed less alcohol than men.
Paul said that it was found that there is a major liner connection between consumption of alcohol and total cerebral brain volume.
The study gives us a clear message regarding the dangers of consuming alcohol that may possibly arise.
